First B-day

My little niece, Emma, turned 1 at the end of March. First I heard Emma has enough toys, but will need big girl cloths. Then her grandma went on a spree and bought a ton of cloths, so we will see if she will end up in any of the outfits I made for her big day. I'm proud of them and what to share them with everyone.
When I saw this knit fabric at the fabric store I knew Emma needed a Hello Kitty dress. The purple shift dress is made of cotton knit, so its perfect for a toddler. I like the shape of a shift dress because of the room for growth. The buttons on the shoulders can be adjusted to add length in the upper torso.
If you not around pre-k kids regularly then probably wondering who this is. Foofa is a character on the show Yo Gabba Gabba. I found a photo of her and made my own patterns for the applique out of Swedish tracing paper.
Well what's better for a new toddler than a cotton romper.
As I started each outfit I thought they would be cute and I knew I would like them, but I wasn't making them for me so I was surprised to fall in love with each of them.

But, in the end the pink gingham reversible top and matching ruffle pants are my favorite. It surpassed my vision. I used two sizes of gingham and found in my stash of rick rack a piece of pink gingham patterned rick rack. I think that these little details are what make what make an outfit special.
